International Vocal Competition

International Vocal Competition (IVC) is organizing this autumn the 54th edition of the competition in which this year the LiedDuo is central. Fourteen singer-pianist duos will compete for the Eugène Pannebakker Prize in November. For the first round, the candidates send in a YouTube video. The registrations via the IVC website are open. The semi-finals and final will take place from 16 to 21 November 2021 at various locations in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Song Festival
At various locations in 's-Hertogenbosch - including Het Noordbrabants Museum, the Verkadefabriek and the Willem Twee toonzaal - the public can enjoy various parts of the competition. Tenor Christoph Prégardien, for example, will provide a recital with Schumann's entire Dichterliebe, recitals by laureates will take place, as well as masterclasses, a children's performance around the classical song and a world premiere of the new prize song Vermeer's Gold by composer Bart Visman and lyricist Marc Pantus.
On November 18 and 19, the semi-finals will take place with an audience in 's-Hertogenbosch. The final of the LiedDuo 2021 will be held on November 21. Online ticket sales run through the Verkadefabriek website and will start this summer.

Main jury November
The main jury in November is of an exceptionally high international level. Mezzo-soprano Dame Sarah Connolly, award winner of IVC, will chair the jury. The other jury members are tenor Christoph Prégardien, tenor Howard Haskins, pianist Charles Spencer, pianist Roger Vignoles and Concertgebouw Amsterdam programmer Mirjam Wijzenbeek. The total prize money of the competition amounts to € 20,000.

Application deadline
Lied-duos can now register via the IVC website. The first deadline for submitting material is June 10. The second deadline is August 12. The video jury panel consists of Roberta Alexander (soprano), Jard van Nes (mezzo-soprano), Henk Neven (baritone), Hans Eijsackers (pianist) and Reinild Mees (pianist). IVC director Ivan van Kalmthout is the jury chairman.
