Discover the Russian operatic repertoire during our Summer School

From 6 through 12 September the IVC organises a Summer School on Russian repertoire. Every year we choose a different style, specific period or composer(s) for this intensive training week. Celebrated musicians and expert coaches work with the young talents on the repertoire at the Theater aan de Parade.
Why did we choose for the Russian repertoire?
Every year we choose a specific theme for the Summer School. In 2013 we celebrated the 200th year of birth of Richard Wagner. Naturally, his opera music had to be the theme for our Summer School. For this event the IVC works together with the Dutch National Opera. They present Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame (photo above) on stage in Amsterdam later this season. Some operas of this composer belong to the so-called standard repertoire. Much-loved operas! We chose to work with pieces from Tsjaikovski’s Pique Dame and Eugene Onegin. Both masters and participants are looking forward to it!
Famous aria’s and ensembles
During the Summer School we will work on Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame and Eugene Onegin and on Rachmaninovs Aleko. Not only the solo arias, but also on the ensembles such as duets, terzet, quartet and even a quintet. We have casted the singers in certain roles. There are two casts for each opera we will work on. During the master classes the participants will also work on famous arias from other opera’s and Russian art songs. Take a look at the entire repertoire of the Summer School.
