Michael Wilmering studied for his Bachelor and Master degrees at the Conservatory of Utrecht, graduating both studies with distinction. In 2016 won the Press Prize, The Junior Prize and the IVC prize in the category Lied-duo, at the International vocal competition. Recent engagements include his debut at Teatro Mayor in Colombia as Marullo in Rigoletto (Patrick Fournillier - Tatjana Gürbaca) and at the Dutch National Opera, Thierry in Dialogues de Carmelites (Stéphane Denève - Robert Carsen), Goethe in Theater of the World (Reinbert de Leeuw - Pierre Audi), Ein Cappadocier in Salome (Daniele Gatti - Ivo van Hove). He is a member of the Opera in Stuttgart.
