The Polish soprano Elzbieta Szmytka made her debut in the opera of Krakow in Le nozze di Figaro and sang subsequently in many opera houses of the world like the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Théâtre Champs-Elysées, Vienna State Opera, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and festivals such as Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence and Glyndebourne. She is rightly famous for her Mozart interprations but also had great successes as Violetta in La Traviata, Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier) in Antwerp and Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande.
