Elly Ameling

The world famous Dutch soprano Elly Ameling won the first prize at the IVC in 1956, after having made her professional debut in 1953. She is most known for her lieder recitals and for her interpretation of the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. Se appeared with conductors like Seji Ozawa, André Previn, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Neville Marriner and Edo de Waart. She also appeared in operas like Idomeneo and Così fan tutte. Apart from many music awards she has been knighted in 1971 by the Queen of the Netherlands.
