Vincent Kusters
Vincent Kusters, baritone, studied classical singing and piano at Conservatorium Maastricht, with Mya Besselink and Joop Celis respectively. In 2016 he graduated his master’s degree in singing and one year later in piano. He studied singing with Reginaldo Pinheiro at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg during the winter semester of 2014/2015. In 2016 and 2017 he also received piano lessons from Willem Brons at Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
Vincent started with singing at the age of 7, when he joined a children’s choir and later also a boys’ choir. At this age he also received his first piano lessons. After turning 10 he began having singing lessons at the music school of Maastricht which resulted in many solo performances as a boy soprano. At 16 Vincent started studying at Conservatorium Maastricht in the young talent class. During his studies at the conservatoire Vincent developed into an all-round singer, but from a very early stage he was captured by the beauty and depth of Lied. He has taken part in Lied-masterclasses as either a singer or pianist with Maarten Koningsberger, Roger Braun, Meinard Kraak, Marien van Nieukerken, Robert Holl, Jard van Nes, and with Elly Ameling and Julius Drake (Liedfestival Zeist 2018).
Vincent forms a lied-duo together with pianist Charlie Bo Meijering. They are currently coached by Meinard Kraak and Roger Braun.
Vincent won a prize as a singer during the Prinses Christina Concours in 2008. During Festival Vocallis he won the Vocallis Liedprijs twice, during consecutive editions of the festival: in 2017 as a singer and in 2018 as a pianist. In 2018 he was admitted as a soloist (voice) to the Vereniging Vrienden van het Lied.
Aside from singing and playing piano, Vincent is an organist in the Sint-Martinuskerk of Gronsveld and organist as well as choir conductor in the Bartholomeuskerk of Eckelrade. He is a member of a professional Gregorian Schola (Schola Maastricht).
