Iida Antola

Soprano Iida Antola graduated as a choir conductor from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2015 before continuing her studies in solo voice at the University of the Arts in Berlin with Prof. Elisabeth Werres and Prof. Enrico Facini. Antola has completed Masters’ exams in Choir conducting, solo piano and solo voice.

In 2017 Antola made her professional debut as Pamina (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte) at the Finnish National Opera. In the season 2018-2019 she performed the role of Christine in the FNO production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, and also the role of Crobyle in Massenet’s opera Thaïs. Her other stage roles include Dido (Purcell: Dido and Aeneas), Clorinda (Rossini: La Cenerentola), Poppea (Monteverdi: L’incoronazione di Poppea), La suora infermiera (Puccini: Suor Angelica) and Annina (Verdi: La Traviata).

Antola has been successful in both national and international competitions. In 2017, she won 1st prize at the Kangasniemi Singing Competition in Finland and 2nd prize at the International Paula Salomon-Lindberg Competition “Das Lied”. In 2018 she was a finalist in both the International Hugo Wolf Lied Competition in Stuttgart and the International Schubert Lied Duo Competition in Dortmund with her partner Anni Laukkanen, as well as 2nd prize winner in the national Helsinki Lied competition.Antola has sung as soloist in many oratorios, such as The Messiah (Handel), Requiem (Mozart), Requiem (Fauré), The Seasons (Haydn), Nelson-messe (Haydn) and Paukenmesse (Haydn). She also has lots of experience with contemporary music, and recently performed “Pierrot Lunaire” by Schoenberg at the “Kaivos festival” in Finland, singing and conducting the piece at the same time. She can be heard as soloist on several recordings, including Veli-Matti Puumala’s opera Anna-Liisa (Ondine 2015). Publisher Sulasol publishes Antola’s own compositions.

Anni Laukkanen
Anni Laukkanen is a pianist who has specialized in Lied and Chamber Music. She has received her Masters in Performance Piano from Sibelius-Academy and a Masters in Lied Accompaniment under Prof. Wolfram Rieger at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Currently, she is living in Berlin and working at Universität der Künste as an accompanist, participating in various Lied duos throughout Europe, as well as performing regularly as a lied pianist, soloist and chamber musician.
Laukkanen has participated in master classes of Thomas Quasthoff, Eric Schneider, Graham Johnson, Burkhard Kehring, Christiane Iven, Robert Holl and Rudolf Jansen, which has further deepened her knowledge and love of Lied music. In 2018, she was chosen as a finalist of the International Lied competition of Hugo Wolf Academy in Stuttgart, as well as the International Schubert-competition in Dortmund together with soprano Iida Antola. In 2015 she was a finalist of the International Lied competition "Nadia et Lili Boulanger" in Paris. In the Spring 2016, she was accepted as a member of the Yehudi Menuhin “Live music now” association.
