Harriet Burns

Harriet is studying with Yvonne Kenny at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on the prestigious Opera Course programme. She is a Samling Artist, Oxford Lieder Young Artist, and a Britten-Pears Young Artist.

Passionate about song, recent highlights include making her Wigmore Hall debut with Graham Johnson in a recital of Schubert Lieder. She has performed in numerous recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival, at the Ryedale Festival and the Chiltern Arts Festival with artists including James Baillieu, Christopher Glynn, Caitlin Hulcup, Brian O’Kane, the Phoenix Piano Trio, Ian Tindale, Michael Pandya and Adam Walker. She gave a recital at the International Lied Festival Zeist with Ian Tindale, and at deSingel with Samuel Hasselhorn and Graham Johnson. At the Guildhall School she has been a Prince Consort Side by Side Artist performing at the Wigmore Hall, and performed in Iain Burnside’s latest production Swansong in Milton Court Studio Theatre.

She was joint winner of the 2018 Oxford Lieder Young Artists Platform with Michael Pandya, won the 2017 Paul Hamburger prize for Lieder, and the Franz-Schubert-Institut competition leading to a full scholarship to study at the 2017 FSI. Harriet’s debut album, vol. VIII of Graham Johnson’s Complete Brahms Lieder with Hyperion, will be released in 2019.

Ian Tindale

British pianist Ian Tindale has performed across London, the UK and Europe. Recent engagements have included song recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival, Buxton Festival, and Petworth Festival, and he has performed with artists such as Ailish Tynan, Gemma Summerfield, Anna Harvey, Robert Murray, Jess Dandy and Nicky Spence.

Following studies at Selwyn College, Cambridge and the Royal College of Music, London, Ian was awarded the Pianist’s Prize in the Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation Song Competition in 2017, and he has been the recipient of accompaniment prizes at the Kathleen Ferrier Awards, Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the Gerald Moore Award. Ian is a Britten Pears Young Artist and a Samling Artist. Concert highlights have included the Samling Showcase at the Wigmore Hall in both 2016 and 2017, recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival with singers from the Royal College of Music, a recital in the Leeds Lieder Festival with tenor Nick Pritchard and collaborations with soprano Harriet Burns, the Albion Quartet and flautist Adam Walker in a series of concerts at the Ryedale Festival. In the 2018-19 season Ian performed with baritone and ECHO Rising Star Josep-Ramon Olivé in recitals across Europe including Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Palau de la Música in Barcelona, as well as a recital at Wigmore Hall and with Soraya Mafi and a recital at the Lewes Festival of Song with James Newby. Future projects include an all-Finzi programme with Nick Pritchard and ongoing work as a coach for Samling Academy.
