On Friday, October 9, 2026 at 20:15, the renowned singer will work with the singers of the IVC in the Pleinzaal of the Theater aan de parade. Chosen singers from the Main Rounds of the 59th IVC who did not advance to the Grand Finale will present an aria during the masterclass.
All masterclasses are open to the public in the Pleinzaal of the Theater aan de Parade. The masterclass takes place from 20:15-22:30, including a short break.
Biography Peter Rose
A regular guest at the world’s most important opera houses, the bass Peter Rose has appeared at The Royal Opera, Covent Garden, The Metropolitan Opera, New York, the Vienna Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Deutsche Oper and Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin, Salzburger Festspiele and Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
His enormous repertoire includes Ramphis (Aida), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Somnus (Handel’s Semele), Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Don Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Kecal (The Bartered Bride), Banquo (Macbeth), Philip II (Don Carlos), Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Gurnemanz (Parsifal), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Claggart (Billy Budd) and Falstaff. He has won particular acclaim for his performances of Bottom (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Baron Ochs (Der Rosenkavalier) which he has sung variously in Aix-en-Provence, Paris, London, Rome, at his debut at The Metropolitan Opera, New York and for Glyndebourne Festival Opera. In recognition of his many celebrated performances at the Wiener Staatsoper, Peter Rose was awarded the lauded title of Kammersänger in 2020.
A prolific concert artist, he has sung under Sir Colin Davis, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta, Sir Georg Solti and Kurt Masur, among others, with orchestras such as The Cleveland Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic.
When he’s not on stage, Peter Rose is known for his warm and approachable personality. A passionate advocate for young musicians, he frequently participates in masterclasses and mentorship programs, sharing his knowledge and inspiring the next generation of operatic talent.
