9 – 16 September, 's-Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven

From 9 till 16 September the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands will once again be the seat of the International Vocal Competition (IVC). Following the Lied Duo Competition that was held with great success in 's-Hertogenbosch last year, this year will feature the Opera | Oratorio division of the competition. Around 60 singers will be taking part this year, having been selected from over 600 applications from 59 countries. There is a total of € 32,500 in prize money as well as various engagement prizes to be won during the competition.
The 51st session of the IVC will this year be held in various locations in 's-Hertogenbosch and the final round will be held on Saturday 16 September in the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips in Eindhoven.
The competition programme this year will also include master classes by such internationally renowned singers as Cheryl Studer, Jennifer Larmore and Sergei Leiferkus. A Lieder recital will also be given by the Japanese mezzo-soprano and previous IVC winner Mitsuko Shirai, together with her husband, pianist Hartmut Höll.


Jury

The jury of the Opera | Oratorio division is made up of a combination of renowned singers and representatives of the opera and concert worlds. It includes legendary soprano Cheryl Studer, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Larmore, tenor Zizheng Yu (University of Nanjing, China) and baritone Sergei Leiferkus, opera consultant Pieter Alferink, Joel Ethan Fried (director of artistic administration, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Jesús Iglesias Noriega (head of artistic administration, Dutch National Opera) and Eva Wagner-Pasquier (opera management, prev. Bayreuth Festival). Chairman of the jury will be Nicholas Payne (director of Opera Europa).
