Preliminary Rounds 51st IVC

24 September 2015 On 20 and 21 November Preliminary Selections for the 51st IVC take place at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam

The results of the Amsterdam Preliminary Rounds will be published on the IVC website on Monday, 23 November after 1 pm.

International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch 2016

The 51st edition of the International Vocal Competition, based in the Dutch city of ’s-Hertogenbosch in North Brabant, will be held  8 – 17  September 2016. The International Vocal Competition involves oratorio and art song, as well as opera, with an important emphasis on 20th century and contemporary music. The IVC offers singers  the chance to perform for an international jury, casting directors, concert managements, impresarios, the media and a concert loving audience. Master classes, feedback from jury members, board and lodging at host families are some of the ingredients that make up this unique and internationally renowned competition. This year’s total prize money amounts to € 45,000 and various engagement prizes are also offered. The IVC is open to singers of all nationalities. 

The 51st IVC 2016  offers two categories: Opera | Oratorio and Lied Duo. Lieder contestants will be judged as singer/accompanist duos. Separate  international juries for both categories include prominent singers as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Jennifer Larmore, Elly Ameling and Sergei Leiferkus.  Candidates for the 51st International Vocal Competition can apply for the Preliminary Rounds in the Netherlands, Italy or via YouTube or DVD recording.

The deadline to apply for the first Preliminary Round in Amsterdam is 1 November 2015. Jury members for the Preliminary Rounds in Amsterdam are Mya Besselink, vocal pedagogue, Brian Matsuda, pianist, coach, Marien van Nieukerken, pianist, artistic director International Student Lied Duo Competition Enschede, Roger Smeets, baritone, teacher Conservatory Maastricht, Carolyn Watkinson, mezzo-soprano, teacher Codarts Conservatory Rotterdam and Annett Andriesen (chair), mezzo-soprano, general manager IVC, teacher Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
