IVC laureate Michael Wilmering on Theaterfestival Boulevard

25 July 2017 Tip! Premiere music theatre and dance performance 'Grenzeloos' on 6 August, a collaboration with the IVC.

A Syrian and a Colombian. Each rooted in his own history, each a stranger upon arrival at Schiphol. Time to ask a question that will disturb the peace: aren’t we all strangers in our own country? Where do we belong? What is our destination now that borders seem to define who we are?

Grenzeloos (Boundless)
In the music theatre and dance performance 'Grenzeloos' (Boundless), a collaboration with the IVC, baritone Michael Wilmering (Colombia, 1988) and dancer Ahmed Joudeh (Syria, 1990) dissolve cultural boundaries. Ahmad grew up in a Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus. During the war, he gave dance lessons to children. In October 2016, he was able to flee to the Netherlands, with the support of the Dutch National Ballet, after the documentary Dance or Die had placed him in the spotlight.

Premiere: Sunday 6 August | 9 pm | € 14 | Bij Katrien

IVC prizes
Michael Wilmering won the 'Press Prize - Lied Duo' and the ‘Junior Jury Prize - Lied Duo’ at the IVC in 2014 (together with pianist Javier Rameix). At the IVC in 2016 (category Lied Duo) he won, also together with Rameix, the Prize Association Friends of the IVC.

Theaterfestival Boulevard
Theaterfestival Boulevard is a summer festival held from 3 through 13 August in and around 's-Hertogenbosch. The programme includes theatre shows, dance, music theatre, street theatre, music, and other art forms, some of which are not so easily pigeonholed. Tips from the organization for IVC enthusiasts: De Mensheid (with Arnon Grunberg), Lassus Grand Cru (with soprano Griet de Geyter), Nachtschade: Aubergine (with soprano Claron McFadden) and Masai (with Dutch-Tanzanian mezzo-soprano Nienke Nasserian Nillesen).
