Legendary soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will be Jury President of the 52nd edition of the International Vocal Competition ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The Competition will be held from 7 – 15 September 2018 and Hartmut Haenchen leads the Finals with the South Netherlands Philharmonic.

“We are proud to present Dame Kiri as our Jury President and to welcome conductor Hartmut Haenchen to be involved in the competition and conduct the Final”, Annett Andriesen, general manager IVC.
The IVC offers young and talented singers the chance to perform for an international jury, casting directors, concert managements, impresarios, the media and public. This year’s total prize money amounts to € 45,000 and various engagement prizes by Opera Houses and Symphony Orchestras are offered. The IVC is open to singers of all nationalities. Candidates for this year’s competition can apply for several live Preliminary Rounds or submit their application via YouTube/DVD.
The International Vocal Competition (IVC), based in the Dutch city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the province of North Brabant, is the only classical vocal competition in the Netherlands that involves opera, oratorio as well as art song with an important emphasis on 20th-century and contemporary music for singer/pianist duos. The Competition includes master classes, media training, feedback from jury members, career development, travel refund for (semi-)finalists and accommodation at host families, ingredients that make up this unique and internationally renowned event. Besides Jury President Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, the International Jury includes prominent singers such as mezzo-soprano Dunja Vejzovic, countertenor Andrew Watts, bass Robert Holl, tenor Zizheng Yu (Ningbo University, China) as well as Nicholas Payne (director of Opera Europa), Joel Ethan Fried (Artistic Director Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Jesús Iglesias Noriega (head of artistic administration Dutch National Opera), Eline de Kat (artistic coordinator Opéra de Monte-Carlo) and Evamaria Wieser (Salzburger Festspiele). In November 2019 the 52nd International Vocal Competition Lied Duo will be held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
