Bach 300 Years After - Cantata BWV 21

12 June 2014 On 14 June a special 'Bach on Saturday' edition with the Cantata performance 'Ich Hatte Viel Bekümmernis'.

Enjoy on Saturday 14 June a special 'Bach on Saturday' edition in the Grote Kerk in Den Bosch, 300 years after the first performance of one of the most famous Cantatas.

An extraordinary length
On the third Sunday after Trinity (17 June 1714) Bach played the Cantata 'Ich Hatte Viel Bekümmernis' (BWV 21) for the occassion of duke Johann Ernst leaving Frankfurt. This 'goodbye-Cantata' has an extraordinary length and includes a lot long parts with the choir. It is one of the most special Cantatas of Bach. He was concert master at the court of Weimar.

With singers such as Seil Kim
Conductor Jeroen Felix chooses this festive and huge Cantata, performed by three singers from the International Vocal Competition: soprano Julia Westendorp (picture below), tenor Seil Kim (upper picture) and baritone Bert van de Wetering. Seil Kim was finalist of the 48th International Vocal Competition in 2010 and won a 'Lied' Prize.
