’s-Hertogenbosch | Netherlands

Opera | Oratorio

8 – 15 September 2018

  • Kiri Te Kanawa returns to 's-Hertogenbosch
  • Harmut Haenchen conducts the Finals including a performance by Lenneke Ruiten
  • A family programme with Francis van Broekhuizen and Edwin Rutten
  • For the first time you can choose your own favourite artist as a finalist

For more than 60 years, 's-Hertogenbosch has hosted a leading international opera event: the IVC. More than 400 singers have applied hoping to become The Voice of Den Bosch. Singers between 18 and 32 will be judged by the world’s top professionals (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Dutch National Opera, Salzburger Festspiele and famous singers). And by our audience. This year, for the first time, you can choose your own favourite artist as a finalist.

In addition to the competition, there will be masterclasses. About singing, presentation and auditioning. Sylvia Maessen will be working with candidates on her specially commissioned prize song and for the whole family there is a programme with The Carnival of the Animals: children performing in an ensemble and a singing workshop.

The jury consists of the opera stars Dame Kiri Te kanawa (president), Dunja Vejzović, Robert Holl, Andrew Watts, Zizheng Yu, and Joel Ethan Fried (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam), Jesús Iglesias Noriega (Dutch National Opera), Eline de Kat (Opéra de Monte-Carlo), Nicholas Payne (Opera Europa) and Evamaria Wieser (Salzburger Festspiele, Opera Chicago).
